Casualties of Applied Metaphysics is a modern experimental band that began in
Kentucky, United States after band leader and founder Alex Browne received inspiration for an album
early in the year of 2006. It is comprised of Alex Browne, Danny Walton, and David Tillman, all of whom
are multi-instrumentalists.
Alex’s initial ideas were originally planned to be a solo album, but after telling two of his fellow
classmates/friends about the idea, they quickly jumped aboard, creating the trio of Alex Browne, Danny
Walton, and Matt Buckley.
David Tillman joined in mid-2007 in the middle of the creation of their first album, “In Anima”, which
was released on December 28th, 2008. After the completion of “In Anima”, Matt Buckley ceased
membership on account of an increasingly busy schedule, reducing the band to a trio once again.
On March 6th, 2009, “Ex Anima”, the band’s second album, was released. It expands upon the
concepts introduced in the first and brings it to a close. Both of the albums collectively deal with a story,
the firstpart told from the abstract view of the internal mind and the second more specifically in the realm
ofexternal reality. Musically, the band manages to combine many elements (electronic, avant, prog,
Kosmiche, etc.) with a stylistic approach atypical to music, and thus the unique mix of what becomes
CoAM is indescribable.
The main goal of the act is to achieve its own artistic imprint in modern
experimental music. The band are currently working on their third album, tentatively titled "Lightning
Strikes", which is planned to be a loose concept album dealing with sources of natural beauty, power,
and mysticism.
